Almirida

Almirida is a friendly resort on the North Coast of Crete. It boasts a Blue Flag beach, local tavernas and restaurants, a sailing school and is handy for exploring the area around.

Food & Drink

You can experience Greek and Cretan cooking at many tavernas but there also establishments selling British-type food. For example, roast dinners are one of the specialities of Dunes. You can find other establishments selling full English breakfasts. However, if you prefer fresh fish, octopus, squid or beef stifado, lamb kleftiko or even one of the local specialities such as Sfakian pies or snails there are many tavernas selling quality food and wine.

Beaches

The main beaches are sandy and there are sunbeds and umbrellas available for hire. Swimming is especially popular from the beginning of May through to the end of November. The main beach is a European Blue Flag beach.
