There is a daily ferry service to and from Piraeus, Athens. The ferry leaves Chania (about 15 Km away) at 21:00 and from Piraeus also at 21:00 and takes eight and a half hours. See Anek Lines for bookings etc.

There is also a high speed service during the tourist season, leaving Chania at 21:15 and Piraeus at 15:45 daily. See Highspeed Ferries for further information. Journey time is less than 5 hours.

During the holiday season there are numerous charter flights from UK and other European airports to Chania (airport about 25 Km from Almyrida). Your local travel agent or airport should be able to give you full details. From Athens there are connections world-wide.

Throughout the year there are generally about ten flights to and from the International airport at Athens. There are 4 flights a week to Thessaloniki and a weekly flight to Rhodes.
